Cartoonish supervillainy reddit11/24/2023 ![]() ![]() It wasn't unoriginal to me to have a movie that simply said to its audience "hey, this park, Hammond's vision is now a reality. Halloween 2018, Top Gun: Maverick, Creed, Ghostbusters: Afterlife- all solid examples of doing something familiar but adding a fresh element like a change of setting or character sets that made it feel like a nice balance. But in regard to Star Wars, that series is all about poetry, and when they reach for something new, that's typically when it's met with some more divisiveness (TPM, AOTC, TLJ). Don't get me wrong, it can be an exhausting thing if done poorly, and if you felt JW did it poorly, I can respect that. I mean what you're bringing up is franchise formula. Parental themes have run through all of the Jurassic films but in Jurassic World it’s a classic writing failure of tell the audience what’s happening rather than show them.Įdit: I mostly enjoyed JW but it’s not without flaws.Īudiences deserve better, don’t you think? In JW we are literally battered over the head with divorcing couples and failed ‘dates’. In the original JP these elements do exist but they’re subtle nods and mentioned very briefly. The shoe horning of kids / divorce and Claire / Owen love interest is also ridiculously insufferable. ![]() He’s definitely an action hero but is that really what the Jurassic park franchise is about? Even at their most heroic in the original trilogy Sam Neil / Goldblum etc were in a constant state of fear. I think whether Owen is a good character or not is up for debate. But I think that’s where the interesting elements end. Both Jurassic world in the story and the studios who make the films we see are doing it for the same reasons. What’s ironic is that it mimics the entire concept of a Jurassic reboot. People will always push to make money or squeeze as much out of it as possible and in order to do that the I-Rex is born. Where as I do agree it has interesting elements within - the general cynicism of the real world leaking into the plot feels legit. The story is essentially a rehash of the first film. It’s not better than the original by any means but how do people not admit that this movie delivers? Now someone explain to me why people hate this movie. A great team up of rexy and blue with a good and interesting storyline. Overall, it’s a great film that has awesome action with soldiers getting eaten by raptors, people running and screaming from flying Dino’s, and we can’t forget about the FREAKIN’ MOSASAURUS eating the I-REX. The suspense build up and pacing was very good and how they first showed Jurassic world before all the terror is good writing. The I-Rex is terrifying and the scene of it eating the workers in the paddock is one of my favorite. Some of the CGI is very questionable but did not take me out of the movie. I love the corporate side with Bryce Dallas Howard and her character changing to actually feel empathy for Dino’s. He’s also a super funny guy when he stole Lowrys drink. Hoskins and him wanting to weaponize the dinaosuars was a great storyline that should have been more in depth in the sequel. Masrani was also a very charismatic and funny character that brought the realism to the screen. Chris Pratt’s character is actually really cool and developed when he’s angry at the corporate heads for creating a monstrous dinosaur. The first Jurassic film in 14 years and it brought the action, adventure, and an interesting storyline with it. ![]() We are a fan-ran community and have no official connection to Jurassic Park!Īfter rewatching the JP trilogy and now rewatching the JW movies, the 2015 entry of Jurassic World is awesome. /r/JurassicWorldAlive (GPS based game but with Dinosaurs)./r/JurassicWorldEvo (JW Evolution) / /r/JurassicParkOG (JP Operation Genesis). Some content that may not create discussion are memes or NSFW posts, although NSFW is allowed, if not overly obscene.Ĭlick to message the mods if you have any questions or are concerned your post was caught in the spam filter.
